FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Arlington, Va., November 1, 2011 – AASA President Pat Neudecker has announced the election of Lyle C. Ailshie to the AASA Governing Board as one of two members representing the state of Tennessee.

Ailshie serves as superintendent of schools for Greeneville (TN) City Schools, a post he has held since 2000. Over the course of his 29-year career in public education, he has served as a high school assistant principal and athletic director, elementary school principal, elementary, middle and high school teacher.

Ailshie is currently a Board member of the Tennessee Association of Independent and Municipal Schools. He is a member of the Tennessee Organization of School Superintendents. He has served as adjunct professor for East Tennessee State University, has authored/co-authored educational research articles, and presented at various state and national conferences. Ailshie was named the 2005 Tennessee Superintendent of the Year.

“We are delighted to have Lyle join us on the board,” said Neudecker in making the announcement. “He has many years experience and wisdom to bring to the table.”

The AASA governing board, composed of 135 members drawn from seven U.S. geographic regions, sets policy for the organization.
