Two AASA Publications Take Top Honors in NSPRA’s 2014 Competition
The National School Public Relations Association has given AASA its top award in two categories in its 2014 Publications and Electronic Media Contest.
AASA’s flagship publication, School Administrator, took the Award of Excellence in the magazine category for its November 2013 issue, which focused on career moves in the superintendency. The cover story was titled “Exiting Gracefully: Transitioning Out of the Superintendency and Toward New Horizons.” The magazine’s editor is Jay P. Goldman.
School Administrator also earned the Award of Excellence in the 2011 and 2012 contests.
In addition, the AASA Conference Daily Online captured the Award of Excellence in the competition’s electronic newsletter category. AASA’s entry consisted of four consecutive days of comprehensive multimedia coverage of the association’s National Conference on Education in Nashville, Tenn., in February 2014. Gayane Minasyan and Jay P. Goldman served as co-editors of the electronic publication, which included news and feature stories, daily photos, a conference blog, a Twitter feed and short audio and video clips.
This marked the first time Conference Daily Online had been entered into a publications contest.
The Award of Excellence is the highest honor bestowed in each category. This year’s competition received 725 entries, including 512 in the print categories, according to NSPRA Executive Director Richard Bagin. AASA will receive plaques for the two honors. Both AASA publications will be recognized at NSPRA’s national seminar in Baltimore July 13-16.
