Mission:

The AASA Center for System Leadership™ is a professional development arm of the organization that fosters, develops and supports superintendents of schools and other school system leaders who are leading the transformation of public education.

Why Was the AASA Center for System Leadership Established?
The AASA Center for System Leadership was established to address the leadership needs of school leaders through partnerships with AASA state affiliates and established national and regional networks.  In addition to the Center staff, AASA's Focus on Leadership for Learning Committee provides guidance to the Center.

• Institute for Leadership Development and Systems Thinking
  Provides programs focused on a systems approach to the transformation of public education to meet the expectation of universal success for all children.
  
  Programs include Virtual Seminars, the Executive Consultant Program and the Superintendents Knowledge Series.
  
  
• Institute for New and Aspiring Superintendents
  Provides programs that instill knowledge, build skills and develop leadership capabilities.
  
  Learn more about the New and Aspiring Leaders Workshop at AASA's Women in School Leadership Forum as well as The New Superintendents Journal and the New Superintendents E-Journal.
  
  
• Institute for Leadership Networks
  Connects networks of organizations and individuals that share the Center’s core beliefs (PDF) and links them with each other and with the Center’s work so that they find the mutual support needed in order to maintain and promote shared values and beliefs.
  
  Programs include the Network of Leadership Networks, the Network of State Urban Networks, the Eastern States Consortium for Learning and School System Excellence, the Western States Benchmarking Consortium and New Network Formation.
  
  
• Institute for Professional Advocacy
  Advocates within the education community for the systemic transformation of public education from a system designed for universal access to one designed for universal success for all children.
  
  
• Institute for Leadership Research and Design
  Leads and encourages inquiries into various public education designs that might be appropriate as vehicles to transform public education.
  
  Programs include the State of the Superintendency Study, 2007 State of the Superintendency Mini-Survey: Aspiring to the Superintendency, Research Roundtables and Benchmarking.

National Advisory Council
The National Advisory Council of the AASA Center for System Leadership plays an important role in the design, implementation and evaluation of the Center’s activities.

NAC members support the Center by providing guidance on trends and challenges facing school systems and their leaders; by assessing the effectiveness and impact of the Center’s activities; and by recommending future direction for the Center, offering suggestions for new programs and reactions to program proposals. The members of the NAC represent a broad cross section of our members, our governance structure and our corporate partners.

AASA Center for System Leadership Partnerships

With the dawning of a new school year, the National Research Center for College & University Admissions (NRCCUA) has updated the My College Options website. 

 The significant online features are:

• Students can review and edit their personal profile.
• Students that did not complete a paper survey can complete the survey online.
• Students can review recommended colleges and universities that match with their aspirations.
• Students are alerted to the colleges and universities that have expressed an interest in them personally.
• Students receive college planning tips respective to their high school year.
