GRADUATING SENIORS CAN WIN UP TO $5,000 IN COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS VIDEO SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST Redefining Ready! National Scholarship 2018 lets America's graduating seniors tell the world how they are college, career and life ready beyond a single test score.

Sixteen scholarships will be awarded to high school graduating seniors, including a grand prize of $5,000.

This scholarship is funded by Hobsons and is in line with the national Redefining Ready! initiative, which was launched by AASA, The School Superintendents Association, to introduce new research-based metrics to more appropriately assess that students are college ready, career ready and life ready.

As part of the scholarship, students must submit a 30 second video that uses one or more of the Redefining Ready! metrics to demonstrate college and career readiness. Examples include completion of an internship, AP or dual credit classes while in high school; near-perfect attendance; or participation in clubs, sports and school activities.

The Redefining Ready! initiative is a response to dismal college and career readiness scores reported by standardized test makers that fail to portray a comprehensive picture of student potential.

Winners will be determined by an AASA-selected committee based on the 30-second video entry and a short written prompt. Creativity counts, but so does honest, authentic and compelling content.

The scholarship contest opens Thursday, March 1, 2018 and closes on Monday, April 2. For more information and official contest rules, visit
