Marketing Manager

AASA Job Description

 SUMMARY:  The incumbent of this position will develop and implement multi-faceted marketing and promotional campaigns across the association and will support efforts to elevate the AASA brand, increase member engagement, boost program registration, and encourage cross-departmental collaboration.


Manages Strategic Marketing Campaigns Across the Association

  • Plans, coordinates, implements, and tracks marketing and promotional campaigns for AASA professional learning programs, events, and initiatives.
  • Works as an integral member of the project management office (PMO) to create, deploy, and improve program recruitment campaigns and strategy.
  • Writes and edits creative, engaging promotional copy for digital and print campaign collateral.
  • Manages and implements short- and long-term marketing and promotional strategies for AASA projects and initiatives as a key member of the marketing and communications team.
  • Analyzes campaign and promotional performance regularly across channels and makes data-informed tactical recommendations.
  • Collaborates across departments to identify cross-marketing opportunities.
  • Maintains marketing schedules across programs and projects.
  • Works closely with AASA’s digital team to update and maintain AASA’s web presence and to create and refine social media plans, assets, and graphics.
  • Prepares marketing materials for promotional use at conferences and events.

Supports & Improves Membership Recruitment and Engagement

  • Creates, implements and tracks membership recruitment, renewal, onboarding, and engagement campaigns.
  • Develops and refines automated email campaigns that move prospects and members through the membership journey.
  • Manages the creation and updating of print and digital membership materials.
  • Supports senior staff in membership prospecting and acquisition process.
  • Manages online member community and works across departments to increase community engagement.
  • Works closely with the Director of Membership to enhance relationships with regional associations.
  • Collaborates with the Senior Director of Membership and Marketing to create and manage membership and marketing budgets.


Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field

  Experience: Three to five years of marketing experience in a nonprofit/association or other individual membership or consumer organization is expected.


  • Superior written and oral communication skills with the ability to maintain attention to detail, consistency, and grammar.
  • Highly organized individual with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
  • A positive attitude, working well independently and in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
  • Experience and familiarity with web content management systems.
  • Experience working with Real Magnet or similar email management systems required.
  • Familiarity with Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is a plus.

Physical Demands: Regular use of desktop and laptop computers is common. Travel may be required and longer than normal hours of work at meetings and conferences may be expected.
