Cyndy Mika

Superintendent of Schools, Kodiak Island Borough School District (Alaska)

The Superintendent of Schools, appointed by the Board Of Education, provides leadership to the educational community of the Kodiak Island Borough School District.

Dr. Cyndy Mika will serve the students, staff, and community of the Kodiak Island Borough School District as the Superintendent beginning July 1, 2022. Dr. Mika began her education career in 1993 with the Yachiyo City Board of Education in Japan as a high school English teacher. Throughout her career in public education, Dr. Mika has served public schools in many roles such as Teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal, Director of Accountability and Assessment, Executive Director for Curriculum, Assistant Superintendent for School Improvement, and most recently, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Learning Services. Dr. Mika graduated from Texas A&M with a Bachelor of Science degree, as well as earned her Master of Education from the University of Texas at Tyler. She completed her Doctorate in Educational Leadership K-12 from Dallas Baptist University in 2015. Dr. Mika currently holds an Alaska Superintendent Certificate.
