Ramina Samuel
Ramina Samuel is a nationally certified counselor committed to student support and cultural preservation. Born in Iraq, she moved to the U.S. in 2004 at fourteen. She graduated from Mather High School in 2008, earned a B.A. in Psychology with a Minor in Biology from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2012, and an M.S. in Counseling from National Louis University in 2016.
As a School Counselor at Niles North High School (District 219), Ramina serves a diverse student body and co-sponsors the Assyrian Club and Suraye, the district’s Assyrian parent group. She played an integral role in relaunching the Assyrian Language Initiative to help preserve the language in schools.
Passionate about Assyrian heritage, she is co-founder and Vice President of BET KANU Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to creating many free resources to promote and revitalize the Assyrian language.
