Rupak Gandhi
Dr. Rupak Gandhi has served as the Fargo Public Schools superintendent of schools since July 2018. In October 2022, he was named the 2022-23 North Dakota Superintendent of the Year by the North Dakota Council of Educational Leaders.
Dr. Gandhi began his career in education in the Houston Independent School District. After serving as a special education resource teacher through Teach For America, he served as a high school assistant principal, an elementary principal, and a high school principal. Dr. Gandhi then served as the research, data, and accountability officer (assistant superintendent) for Harrison School District Two in Colorado Springs, CO. In March 2018, the Board of Education of the City of Fargo hired Dr. Gandhi as the superintendent of schools. He officially assumed the position in July 2018.
Dr. Gandhi completed his undergraduate studies in Political Science at Texas A&M University, holds a master’s degree in special education from Grand Canyon University, and holds his doctorate in educational leadership from Northwest Nazarene University. Dr. Gandhi has continued his professional education past his doctorate by completing the AASA National Superintendent Certification Program, AASA-USC Urban Superintendents Academy, Standards Institute, HWC Executive Leadership Institute, Texas Region IV Superintendent Academy, and Harvard Graduate School of Education UDL Summer Institute.
He is active in the Fargo community, giving of his time, leadership and expertise on area boards. He currently serves on the Fargo-Moorhead Community Advisory Board, Fargo Public Schools Foundation Board, Greater Fargo Moorhead Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors, North Central Council for Educational Media Services Board of Directors, Boys and Girls Club of America Board, and Sanford Hospital Fargo Operational Board. He served on the Plains Art Museum Board from 2019-2022 and the YMCA Fargo Board from 2019-2022. He is also a member of the Fargo Rotary.
Professionally, Dr. Gandhi serves on the AASA Governance Committee, North Dakota K-12 Education Coordination Council, North Dakota School Study Council, and North Dakota Council of Educational Leaders legislative focus group. He is also a mentor for the AASA National Superintendent Certification Program.
