Sean Bulson
Dr. Sean W. Bulson became Superintendent of Harford County Public Schools on July 1, 2018. Dr. Bulson holds a bachelor's degree in International Relations from American University, a master's degree in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) from Marymount University, and a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from George Washington University.
He began his education career in Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland, serving a total of 16 years before relocating to North Carolina in 2011 to become Superintendent of Wilson County Schools in North Carolina. In 2016, Dr. Bulson joined the University of North Carolina (UNC) System to lead an initiative to open laboratory schools at UNC institutions to serve students from low-performing schools.
In his current position, Dr. Bulson serves as a member of the Harford County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; a Governing Board Member of the American Association of School Administrators (AASA), a member of the Harford County Economic Development Advisory Board; an executive committee member of the Harford Business Roundtable (HBRT); a member of the Harford County Education Foundation Board of Directors; a member of the Healthy Harford Board of Directors; and a member of the Susquehanna Workforce Network Board; Past President of the Public School Superintendent’s Association of Maryland (PSSAM); and, Past Member of the Maryland Council on the Advancement of School-Based Health Centers (CASBHC).
In August 2023, Dr. Bulson was appointed by Maryland Governor Wes Moore to serve on the Professional Standards & Teacher Education Board (PSTEB).
On November 2, 2023, Dr. Bulson was named the Maryland Superintendent of the year. This prestigious honor was announced by the Public Schools Superintendent's Association of Maryland (PSSAM) during a ceremony held at the 2023 Maryland Negotiation Service Conference.
Beginning July 1, 2024, Dr. Bulson will serve a three-year term as an elected member of the AASA Executive Committee. He has been a member of the AASA Governing Board since 2022.
