USED Resource: FAFSA Week of Action
November 27, 2024
This blog post comes from an email from USED. AASA is proud to support the work of USED in its effort to update the FAFSA form and to ensure that the roll out for this year’s form is as seamless as possible. To that end, we are happy to share information about an opportunity to participate in the upcoming FAFSA Week of Action. Thank you.
Lat week, building on the successful results of the beta testing of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) system since October, on Nov. 21, USED officially released the 2025–26 FAFSA form, 10 days in advance of the Department’s stated goal of Dec. 1. Relatedly, USED is announcing a High School Senior FAFSA Week of Action, which will take place Dec. 9-13.
In preparation for the FAFSA Week of Action, we are encouraging high school counselors, principals and other school leaders, superintendents, after school programs, parent groups, non-profit organizations, and other local and state education organizations to commit to taking action to raise awareness about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form, specifically focusing on helping students create their FSA ID, and to help students submit their FAFSA forms. Simplified and streamlined, the FAFSA will provide more aid to more students than ever before to help pay for college.
Please let USED know by Friday Dec. 6th what actions you and your district will be taking to help more students and families create their FSA IDs and submit their FAFSA Forms! You can email us at FAFSA2025-26@ed.gov.
