San Diego – Feb. 11, 2020 – School superintendents and other administrators attending the 2020 National Conference on Education can learn the latest social media trends and winning strategies at the sixth annual Social Media Lounge, hosted by AASA, The School Superintendents Association. The conference kicks off on Thursday, Feb. 13 and concludes Saturday, Feb. 15 at the San Diego Convention Center.

Attendees can see successful models and best practices already being used in school districts, gain hands-on social media assistance, make new connections and take advantage of photo and video opportunities.

“It's such an honor to host another great conference and welcome all tech-savvy superintendents to the Social Media Lounge. We are looking forward to covering the latest digital engagement trends for the 21st century,” said Gayane Minasyan, AASA online technologies director. “At the last conference, our potential reach on Twitter was almost five million. This year, our goal is to engage more school leaders, share insightful ideas and effective communication strategies, and celebrate accomplishments in public schools. We are grateful to the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative for its generous support.”

“In today’s public education landscape, social media is a communications strategy that every school leader must understand and implement in order to effectively communicate with their various stakeholders,” said Juli Valentine, AASA digital content editor. “We look forward to discussing how school districts are achieving their social media goals and how we can help. Superintendents who are social media novices, experts, somewhere in between or even just looking for a place to charge their phones are encouraged to stop by the Social Media Lounge.”

Superintendents can engage with their peers online by using the hashtag #NCE2020 in their Twitter, Facebook and Instagram posts. Attendees are also encouraged to join AASA’s NCE Facebook Group as another means for staying connected.
