San Diego – Feb. 14, 2020 – AASA, The School Superintendents Association, is pleased to announce that Jacinda H. Conboy, general counsel with the New York State Council of School Superintendents, and Marie Sneed, partner, Hogan Lovells U.S. LLP, are the 2020 recipients of the Friend of AASA Award.
A ceremony to recognize these individuals was held at AASA’s National Conference on Education in San Diego, Calif.
This award is given by AASA’s executive director to a non-educator or school district-based person or group/organization who has consistently supported the mission of AASA, and has given their time and effort to help the association accomplish its goals to advocate on behalf of public education and assist with the professional development of its members.
“On behalf of AASA and school system leaders throughout our country, I congratulate Jacinda Conboy and Maree Sneed for this recognition,” said Daniel A. Domenech, executive director, AASA. “The support and services these individuals have provided on behalf of public education are immeasurable. It is only fitting to honor them at our national conference.”
Conboy provides advice regarding education issues, holds legal conferences, frequently presents to superintendents, negotiates contracts and assists superintendents in various legal matters. In addition, she recently developed a program to promote and support women leaders in education in New York.
Sneed is a lifelong supporter of public education and has dedicated her career to strengthening public schools and supporting the leaders within them. Her rich career reaches from her time as a teacher and principal to her current work as an expert in legal and regulatory impact on public schools.
Regarded as the most comprehensive professional learning and networking event for school superintendents and administrators, AASA’s National Conference on Education is addressing the most critical issues affecting public education today, including equity in education, social and emotional learning, personalizing education, early learning, technology, and school safety and leadership.
