AASA’s Transformational Leadership Consortium to Serve as National Leader in Shaping Educational Technology Policies and Programs
Alexandria, Va. – March 4, 2020 – Leaders of dynamic digital learning environments in America’s public school systems are gathering at the Pewaukee School District, March 8-10, as part of the Transformational Leadership Consortium (formerly the Digital Consortium), hosted by AASA, The School Superintendent Association.
The purpose of the consortium is to support school district administrators as they scale successful models in support of engaging, effective learning experiences using digital media, and educational and community partnerships in order to be the leading national voice for innovation in our nation’s public schools.
“Superintendents and staff attending this meeting see firsthand the creation of technological solutions that are benefitting students in another part of the country and are able to bring best practices and winning strategies back to their home districts,” said Daniel A. Domenech, executive director, AASA. “Through platforms such as the Transformational Leadership Consortium, superintendents are able to collaborate with their peers in order to make digital transitions a reality in their own communities. We are grateful to Superintendent Mike Cady and his team for facilitating our spring meeting.”
“Membership in the AASA Transformational Leadership Consortium provides school system leaders with opportunities to visit districts that are driving positive change to help make students college and career ready. We are honored to serve as host district for this meeting,” said Mike Cady, superintendent, Pewaukee School District. “Our school district is passionately committed to opening the door for each child’s future as we seek to maximize the potential of each child’s learning.”
The three-day meeting will include a discussion about Pewaukee INSIGHT: an innovative education capstone, designed by Pewaukee High School to give students hands-on, real-world experiences immersed in a professional setting. Attendees will also visit classrooms where they can view the district’s personalized learning program, tech integration, inclusion, Fab Lab, Makerspace/Design, and learning space design.
“We are so pleased that more and more like-minded leaders who are building successful models of effective learning experiences using digital media are participating in AASA Leadership Network meetings to take advantage of the rich conversations and networking that occur at such a rapid pace,” said Mort Sherman, associate executive director, leadership network, AASA. “For the past five years, I have seen convening superintendents generate the right discussions about what matters most to students when it comes to successful models of technology advancements. I look forward to seeing many of them in Wisconsin.”
Last fall, consortium members visited Athens, Ala., City Schools. Watch a short video (3:52) and visit our photo gallery featuring highlights from that meeting.
