Alexandria, Va. – March 10, 2020 – Paul Imhoff, superintendent of Upper Arlington Schools in Upper Arlington, Ohio, has been elected as the 2020-21 president-elect of AASA, The School Superintendents Association.
AASA is the premier organization for the nation’s superintendents serving thousands of education leaders throughout the U.S. A member of AASA since 2007, Imhoff is a current member of the organization’s Executive Committee after serving for five years on its Governing Board.
“On behalf of the thousands of men and women across the country who are serving this nation as public school superintendents and creating equitable outcomes for the students in our schools, I congratulate Paul Imhoff as our next president-elect,” said Deborah Kerr, 2019-20 president of AASA and superintendent of the School District of Brown Deer in Brown Deer, Wis. “An outstanding leader in every sense, Superintendent Imhoff exemplifies what it means to be a tireless advocate for public education and the schools where our students continue to learn and grow. We look forward to working with him in this new role.”
Imhoff has led Upper Arlington Schools since 2013. He previously served as superintendent in Mariemont, Ohio, for six years.
“I am so proud to be a member of this organization, and I am humbled by being elected to serve as president-elect,” said Imhoff. “The need for equitable access to a strong public education system has never been greater. As president-elect, I will have the opportunity to serve the leaders of our public schools as they strive to serve students and staff across our nation. Our membership understands the importance of developing, supporting and continuously improving schools that can keep that promise for every single child.”
His post-secondary education includes three academic degrees: Ed.D., Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, 2018; M.S., University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio, 1995; B.S., Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, 1990.
Imhoff and the other newly elected AASA governance members will begin their terms on July 1. Kristi Sandvik, superintendent of the Buckeye Elementary School District in Buckeye, Ariz., and Imhoff will be sworn in as president and president-elect, respectively, on July 8 at a summer meeting of the AASA Governing Board in Washington, D.C.
