Alexandria, Va. and Jericho, N.Y. – September 3, 2020 –AASA, The School Superintendents Association, and  iTutor have teamed up to introduce superintendents and other school administrators to Virtual School, a secure interactive learning platform that allows schools and districts to build, organize, schedule and offer live, synchronous classes and instruction using the district’s own teachers coupled with school-produced content, all in one place.

Today’s announcement comes at a time when most K-12 students, families, teachers and administrators are facing another semester or full academic year of remote learning.

The Garrison (N.Y.) Union Free School District recently became the first public school system to adopt Virtual School for use by its teachers and students as COVID-19 has made online learning both required and preferable.

“We believe Virtual School will help our teachers continue to deliver highly effective instruction, and our students continue to thrive, even in the face of the pandemic,” said Carl Albano, superintendent of the Garrison Union Free School District, who oversees the unique, one-building, high-performing school district serving students in grades K to 8.

Administrators can replicate their schools’ schedules on the secure, FERPA-compliant Virtual School platform to create courses and classes; easily enroll teachers and students; monitor student progress and teacher performance; and overall, drive educational outcomes. Through iTutor’s Virtual School personalized dashboard, teachers can sync with third-party cloud storage platforms (such as Google Drive) to upload materials and content, and build and schedule classes.

“Forced online by COVID, most schools today are scrambling, using multiple platforms and a variety of techniques to provide online instruction to their students – and achieving inconsistent results,” said Chuck Woodruff, AASA chief operating officer. “We are excited to team up with iTutor to introduce the transformative, comprehensive and easy-to-use Virtual School platform to our members.”

Virtual School has proven effective since 2014, as it has been used by iTutor’s network of more than 1,500 certified educators to deliver synchronous, online instruction to more than 20,000 K-12 students at more than 1,000 schools nationwide, in school districts in 20 states, from Alaska to New York and South Carolina.

“We believe the online future can and will be much brighter for school communities using this technology, and we look forward to introducing AASA members to Virtual School,” said iTutor founder and CEO Harry Aurora.

iTutor is sponsoring regularly scheduled webinars and demonstrations for AASA members. To learn more about the Virtual School platform and register for a webinar, please visit https://go.itutor.com/aasa.
