WHAT:AASA, The School Superintendents Association, will announce the 2021 National Superintendent of the Year® during the organization's virtual National Conference on Education. Now in its 34th year, the National Superintendent of the Year® program, co-sponsored by AASA, AIG Retirement Services and First Student, celebrates the contributions and leadership of public school superintendents. Hundreds of school system leaders will attend AASA’s national conference to discuss the most critical issues in public education.
WHEN: The announcement will be made Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021, during the Opening General Session from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (ET) The announcement precedes the day’s keynote remarks provided by Priscilla Chan, co-founder and co-CEO of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.
WHO: The four finalists for the 2021 National Superintendent of the Year® award are:
- Bryan Johnson, Hamilton County Schools, Chattanooga, Tenn.
- Khalid Mumin, Reading School District, Reading, Pa.
- Christy Perry, Salem-Keizer Public Schools, Salem, Ore.
- Michelle Reid, Northshore School District, Bothell, Wash.
