Ohio’s Middletown City Schools to serve as host district

Alexandria, Va. – March 5, 2021 – Leaders of dynamic digital learning environments in America’s public school systems are gathering March 7-8, as part of the (virtual) Transformational Leadership Consortium (formerly the Digital Consortium) meeting, hosted by AASA, The School Superintendent Association and Ohio’s Middletown City School District.

The purpose of the consortium is to support school district administrators as they scale successful models in support of engaging, effective learning experiences using digital media, and educational and community partnerships to be the leading national voices for innovation in our nation’s public schools.

“In today’s COVID environment, it is critical that school districts develop dynamic digital learning cultures and find innovative strategies to effectively serve the young learners in their communities,” said Daniel A. Domenech, AASA executive director. “We are proud of the superintendents and other administrators who make up the AASA Transformational Leadership Consortium because we’ve seen, through this platform, the creation of technological solutions and digital transitions that are benefitting students and staff. We are grateful to Superintendent Marlon Styles and his team for facilitating our March meeting.”

“As a member of this consortium, I have had ample opportunities to visit school districts across the country whose students are engaged, proud of their schools and proud of the work they’re doing,” said Marlon Styles, superintendent, Middletown (Ohio) City Schools. “We are honored to serve as host district for this meeting and have champions of innovative leading, teaching and learning from across the country visit us to observe and learn about what we’re doing to meet the needs of our students.”

The two-day meeting will include a discussion about the district’s equity center, the #MiddieRsing Culture and the #MiddieRising Superintendent. The meeting will also include a virtual visit to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.
