WHAT:AASA, The School Superintendents Association, will announce the 2022 Women in School Leadership honorees during the organization’s National Conference on Education in Nashville, Tenn. The awards, sponsored by Horace Mann and AASA, pay tribute to the talent, creativity and vision of outstanding women educational administrators in the nation’s public schools. Hundreds of school system leaders will attend AASA’s national conference to discuss the most critical issues in public education.
WHEN:The announcement will be made Friday, Feb. 18, 2022, during the second General Session from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. (CT) in Nashville, Tenn.
WHO: The finalists for the 2022 Women in School Leadership Awards are:
The Central Office/Principal Award – awarded to any female central office or building-level leader
- Zabrina Cannady, assistant superintendent for student services, Houston County School District, Perry, Ga.
- Susan Field, assistant superintendent for learning services, Academy District 20, Colorado Springs, Colo.
The Superintendent Award – awarded to any female superintendent
- Sharon Contreras, superintendent, Guilford County Schools, Greensboro, N.C.
- Avis Williams, superintendent, Selma City Schools, Selma, Ala.
