WHAT: AASA, The School Superintendents Association, will announce the 2023 National Superintendent of the Year® during the organization’s National Conference on Education in San Antonio, Texas. Now in its 36th year, the National Superintendent of the Year® program, co-sponsored by AASA, Corebridge Financial (formerly known as AIG Life & Retirement) and First Student, celebrates the contributions and leadership of public school superintendents. Hundreds of school system leaders will attend AASA’s national conference to discuss the most critical issues in public education.
WHEN: The announcement will be made Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, during the Opening General Session from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. (CT) at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas.
WHO: The four finalists for the 2023 National Superintendent of the Year® are:
- PJ Caposey, Meridian Community Unit School District #223, Stillman Valley, Ill.
- Matthew Hillmann, Northfield Public Schools, ISD 659, Northfield, Minn.
- Kevin McGowan, Brighton Central Schools, Rochester, N.Y.
- Trent North, Douglas County School System, Douglasville, Ga.
