AASA President Gladys Cruz to Host New AASA Podcast
October 05, 2023
AASA, The School Superintendents Association, is excited to launch a new podcast, The Future-Driven Leader with the AASA President. The program will be hosted by Gladys Cruz, the 2023-24 president of AASA and superintendent of Questar III BOCES in Castleton, N.Y.
Each episode—released the first Thursday of each month—will be co-hosted by David R. Schuler, executive director of AASA, and will feature a prominent school system leader or a leader in an industry outside of the education space. Topics will focus on the myriad of hot-button issues that are affecting public education and explore what’s working in school districts across the country.
In addition, each episode will include the voice of a student reflecting on that episode’s theme and how it has influenced that student in the classroom as well as his or her personal life.
In the inaugural episode, released October 5, 2023, president Glady Cruz talks with president-elect Gustavo Balderas, superintendent, Beaverton (Ore.) School District, about the importance of increasing Latino/a representation in educational leadership.
We also hear from student Isabella Weisman, a senior at Chatham Central School District (N.Y.), who talks about the importance of her heritage as it relates to her education.
