Competition for the Best

For each of the past four years, our magazine has produced a digital-only July issue to capture some of the more significant contents appearing in our pages over the previous year. It’s an excellent way for us to keep our readers informed during the one month when School Administrator has traditionally taken a break from publishing a print issue ever since its conversion from newsletter to magazine in January 1981.

For the editors, the challenge of producing our July issue begins when each of us nominates her or his favored editorial candidates. Then a difficult winnowing process takes place to reach the limits of roughly 40 articles and columns that constitute the “Best of” issue. The task seemed particularly hard this year, perhaps a good problem to address. It meant we found plenty of relevant material worthy of republishing.

So please enjoy a second chance here to digest what we consider work worth resharing with all of our readers.
