Advancing Your Strategic Plan in a Summer Retreat

When we began planning a two-day retreat for the 20 administrators in our high school district and the three sending districts, we asked each participant one fundamental question: What are your strengths, weaknesses and challenges?

In preparation for the retreat, which took place last July, we wanted every administrator to identify those qualities as they related to themselves as individuals and as they related to their department collectively. We used the responses to pinpoint some general themes.

At our planning sessions, which began the previous fall, we choreographed a professional learning experience that would benefit supervisors, directors and principals across all grade levels and content areas, as well as the superintendent.
