My View

In the summer of 2020, I ended up in the hospital due to a kidney infection. While recovering, I pondered what message my school district needed to hear as we were coming off of remote learning and still grappling with the pandemic.

I observed people deeply divided by their political beliefs, highlighting an “us-versus-them” mentality. The desire to be right seemed to outweigh the desire to help others, and perceived value appeared to be measured by whom one could prove wrong or out-maneuver. I contemplated how to bring people together amidst such strife.
