Embracing the Shenanigans of a Superintendency

When our school district emerged from the pandemic, I was determined to restore a sense of normalcy and to reconnect with our stakeholders.

Returning to in-person learning, I cherished being back in the buildings interacting directly with staff and students. I participated in classroom activities, joined games of basketball or dodgeball, encouraged group play during recess and shared good moments with students in the cafeteria.

This hands-on approach sometimes brought amusement or mild exasperation among our educators. After one such visit, a staff member playfully asked, “What kind of shenanigans did you get into today?” That comment sparked the idea of capturing these “superintendent shenanigans” on video, with my last name serendipitously lending itself to the title.
