How to Best Meet the Needs of Homeless Students with ARP Funds

The upheaval of the pandemic has been devastating for students experiencing homelessness. Many have simply disappeared from school, while others have struggled to attend and achieve academically.

The American Rescue Plan Act (ARP) creates a unique opportunity for school districts to reframe and refresh their services for students experiencing homelessness, from identification to attendance to success. For the first time in the history of the McKinney-Vento program, local educational agencies will have significant new funding and be able to engage in creative, big-picture thinking to support children and youth experiencing homelessness and their families.
