State of the Superintendency
Superintendents nationally were asked, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, what issues generated the greatest political activity among groups in their school districts during the past three years.
On a list of 13 issues appearing in AASA’s
2020 decennial study, superintendents most commonly chose advocacy for interscholastic athletics and extracurricular activities. Forty-eight percent of respondents reported experiencing political pressure on that issue with funding requests placing
second.
