State of the Superintendency
A mid-decade study of the superintendency asked respondents to identify the leading problems they were facing in the position.
Ranking highest, in order, were inadequate funding, job stress and time demands. Little significant variation was
in evidence when their responses were arrayed by their districts’ student enrollment.
Looming in the background is dissatisfaction with the imposition of federal regulations and requirements.
