State of the Superintendency

Would superintendents make the same career decision if given an opportunity to retrace their steps?
In AASA’s 2010 decennial survey of superintendents nationwide, just under two-thirds (63 percent) said they again would definitely opt
to be a superintendent. In the newly completed 2020 decennial study, 51 percent selected that response.
The percentage of those indicating they probably or definitely would not choose to be a superintendent increased from 5 percent to 9.5
percent over the 10 years.
