Younger superintendents and those leading urban and suburban school systems are more likely than others to believe automation could solve staff shortages in particular functions.

In a survey undertaken by EAB in 2021-22, overall 56 percent of the 141 responding superintendents agreed that robots ought to be considered to address employment needs in technology and custodial functions. Automation is seen as a way to free teachers from routine tasks.
