There’s Good, Bad and Funny in This Complex Relationship

Being a public school superintendent’s child comes with its own set of complexities.
Constantly under scrutiny, we navigate a world where our parent’s decisions directly impact our life at school. We often face high expectations from teachers and classmates alike, expected to excel academically and behaviorally.
I spent much of life, 2nd through 10th grades, attending school in a Texas district where my mom, Jill Siler, was superintendent. Now, a few years removed as a college sophomore, I have a keen perspective of what I had to tolerate then. I have a better understanding of what I had to deal with as a “superintendent’s kid.”
