Many district-led summer learning programs are at the intersection of in-school and out-of-school time learning. Summer learning programs can be a critical strategy for improving access and opportunity for students and their families. These programs play a critical role in supporting students during the summer months with enriching learning opportunities.

A study supported by EducationCounsel sought to understand the systems of support that district leaders rely upon to plan and implement their summer learning programs. This research has uncovered some important lessons for reimagining schooling using safe, equitable, and student-centered approaches. Summer learning is one component of districts’ overall strategy to support students’ academic learning as well as their social-emotional learning.

This webinar reviews the findings and information from school districts using a variety of approaches to support summer learning, weaving funding and tailoring partnerships to best serve the needs of various schools and communities.
